Men’s soccer defeated by Northwood University
Senior Steven Sinclair clears the ball out of the defensive third of the field during the Northwood University game.
The Florida College Falcons met with Northwood University of West Palm Beach, Fla. on
Tuesday, September 2 in an afternoon match up. FC fell 8-0 to the Seahawks. Keeper junior
David Barker had seven saves. Freshman John Taiwo took two shots on the Northwood goal;
freshman Colin Gill and senior Tim Hanlon each shot one. FC fought aggressively, receiving
two yellow cards during the game. “Last year they beat us 12-2, so going into the game we
knew it would be tough. Fourteen of their players are from overseas, so they have a much
more competitive program. It’s a four year school, so they are a lot older than most of us.
We knew what to expect, but we didn’t step up and play at their level,” said sophomore Derek
Davidson. Northwood goals were scored by players from five different countries.
The next game for the Falcon men will be Saturday, September 6 at 7:00 PM against NCAA
Division II Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla.
