place.
The student body packed the student section of Conn Gymnasium for “Toga Night” on October 7 against
Clearwater Christian to show support for their home team. The Lady Falcons put up a tough fight, but
lost all three matches, 23-25, 15-25, 23-25. Josie Ratliff had three ace serves and 18 sets. Jackie
Roberts led the team in kills with 12.
Head coach Donna Parimore ’83 acknowledged the talent of Clearwater. “Clearwater was very strong this
year. I thought we played them better at our gym last Tuesday, but not well enough to win a single set.
We had our chances in sets one and three, but couldn't pull out a "W" due to several unforced errors;
namely serving and poor first touches. I also thought the intensity we needed to turn things around
was not there. However, our fans were great! I thought they were numerous, loud, encouraging, and
quite entertaining,” said Parimore.
Kelsie Foreman goes up for a kill during the Clearwater Christian game.
The next match was against St. John’s River Community College in Palatka, Fla. on October 9. FC won in
three sets, 25-22, 25-22, 25-20. Kelyn Gregory had 10 kills and Kelsie Foreman had eight digs.
The Lady Falcons played away again on October 10, facing South Florida Community College in Avon Park,
Fla. They won 3-1 (25-17, 25-15, 21-25, 25-10). Susan Johnson had 14 kills and Sara Hoffman had 13
sets.
Parimore was impressed with the play of the Lady Falcons. “Our team played well on the road against
both SJRCC and SFCC. Kelyn Gregory had two really strong nights both offensively and defensively.
Marissa Paulin served particularly well against SFCC accumulating four aces for the evening,” said
Parimore.
Southeastern University of the NAIA is next up for Florida College (21-7). They play Tuesday,
October 14 at 7:00 PM in Lakeland, Fla.
